This is from an interview I did In Mid-July, 2005.
BIG EYE HAWAII TV 2005 -Wednesday, Channel 11, 8pm HST:
I began selling my whimsical art sculptures in the early 80's, I'm a good sculptor, but I really wanted to paint, both my parents and three of my brothers are artists. Luckily, my first oil painting sold for $7000 U.S., more than I ever believed possible. My only child Aaron had just passed away from a devastating illness, and I was tremendously sad, focused in on him. One of my first paintings depicted him sleeping on a sea turtle, it was later titled Amazing Grace, and was inspired by Urashima Taro, a legendary Japanese character from a children's book. Of the following years she remembers, I began with Ebay's first year with no competition and list of new clients. Since I began in 1985, I've sold close to a thousand watercolors and oil paintings to collectors and clients. Today 48"X72" canvas reproductions are now going for close to $5000 at the Four Season's Gallery. In early 2005 my best clients were Disney and Cendant Corp., both purchased originals and reproductions of my art for their resort installations". I've put a great deal of energy into making sure the work has value and longevity--a total labor of love. I don't get prices that my boy competitors ask, but my work sells much faster…for which I am blessed and most grateful. I have been foremost a creative person-- a painter, but not a willing publisher. But these days I'm finding myself forced to change policy in order to gratify my collectors. However my primary desire and wish is to pass the responsibility of the collection on to new owners, even at the sacrifice of millions in profit. I've already proven value by virtue of what is selling the many thousands of hours and dollars spent on archiving. And as for being sometimes compared to Georgia Okeeffe she answers, You know… I don't know the actual value of my work, it's could be anywhere from a million to who knows, 100 million-it's all about numbers these days, isn't it. ,Who would have ever guessed a single Okeeffe or Van Gogh would be so extremely valueable? As for the spiritual muse that offer guidance when I paint? Their talent humbles me. And, whom or whatever they may be, I am extremely grateful to the Great Spirit for granting me it's r presence …especially to the one they call Georgia.
